The Difference between Electric 4G LTE Modems and Regular 4G LTE Modems
4G LTE modem is also called a "data transmission unit" in Chinese. Its main function is to convert serial port data into IP data or convert IP data into serial port data for transmission through a wireless communication network.
The main function of the 4G LTE modem is to transmit the data of remote devices back to the background center through wired/wireless means. To complete the transmission of data, we need to establish a complete set of data transmission systems. The system includes a 4G LTE modem, client device, mobile network, and background center. On the front end, the 4G LTE modem is connected to the customer's device through a 232 or 485 interface. Therefore, only the 4G LTE modem cannot complete the wireless transmission of data, and it also needs the cooperation of background software. After the connection is established, the front-end device and the back-end center can perform wireless data transmission through the 4G LTE modem, and the transmission is bidirectional.
Types of 4G LTE modem
The 4G LTE modem is a DTU terminal based on a cellular wireless communication network and is a 4G LTE modem specially used for converting an LTE/TDD/FDD serial port into wireless data or converting wireless into serial port data, and the Pusr transmission terminal DTU product includes the 4G LTE modems, An LTE cat 1 modem, an LTE modem, a TDD modem, an FDD modem, a TDD-LTE modem, and an FDD-LTE modem.
The 4G LTE modem is a wireless data transmission terminal module, which uses 2G and 3G networks for data transmission. The serial port data is sent to the IP address of the remote central server after being packed with TCP or UDP packets.
As an Electric 4G LTE modem used in the power industry, the main difference between it and a 4G LTE modem is that the product requirements are higher. The first is anti-electromagnetic interference, the second is temperature adaptability, and the last is to use a terminal interface to ensure a reliable connection, which can collect a variety of data! DTU has powerful functions:
1. The terminal interface can collect 232, 485, and analog data (6-way I/O).
2. Support mobile phone data backup and remote SMS configuration.
3. Support indicator status display, so the working status of the equipment is clear at a glance.
4. Support independent data encryption.
5. The communication interface is separated from the debugging interface, and the equipment operation is more stable.
The main difference between the power 4G LTE modem and the ordinary 4G LTE modem is the resistance to environmental interference and special transmission protocols.
1. Power, 485, etc.
Generally speaking, for a 4G LTE modem, the electrostatic protection level can reach level 4, and the EFT level and power conduction immunity can reach level 3. The anti-static level of 485 can reach level 4 and surge level 3. It can be seen that the protection of power 4G LTE modem is specially strengthened.
2. EMC protection
EMC protection is the electromagnetic radiation protection of electromagnetic compatibility. The high voltage of tens of thousands of volts in the power grid environment will produce very strong electromagnetic radiation interference. The power 4G LTE modem is very protective against this environment. The levels of radiation anti-interference, power frequency magnetic field anti-interference, and shock wave anti-interference can reach level 3 or above.
3. Transmission protocol
In addition to electromagnetic environmental factors, the power industry is also subject to the regulation of special transmission protocols. The 101 and 104 transmission protocols are widely used in data transmission in the power industry. The power 4G LTE modem supports both transmission protocols compared to the normal 4G LTE modem.
4. Interface installation mode
In order to adapt to the power grid environment, the 4G LTE modem is generally installed with full wiring terminals. Its RS232/485 serial port and power supply are integrated into terminals, which further improves the anti-interference ability. Ordinary 4G LTE modems will not be installed in this way because they do not have a strong electromagnetic environment.
5. Working temperature
The power 4G LTE modem basically adopts the industrial design of wide voltage and wide temperature, and the working temperature is generally between -40 and 85℃, so as to adapt to the harsh temperature test in winter and summer in the field. However, the working temperature of ordinary DTU generally can not meet the requirements of industrial grade, mostly in the range of -20-75℃.
