Berxel Photonics Receives 2024 RD100 Award for Groundbreaking Polarization Structure Light 3D Camera mHawk™ P100
berxel Photonics Co., Ltd., a leading innovator in photonics technology, has been honored with the prestigious 2024 RD100 Award for its revolutionary Polarization Structure Light 3D camera (mHawk™ P100 series). This cutting-edge product has received widespread acclaim for its revolutionary capabilities in 3D sensing applications, highlighting Berxel’s dedication to advancing technology and addressing pivotal industry challenges.
The RD100 Awards, presented annually by R&D World magazine, recognize the top 100 most technologically significant innovations introduced during the year across various industries worldwide. Often referred to as “The Oscars of Innovation” and the “Nobel Prize of Engineering,” the R&D 100 Awards is the only science and technology awards competition that recognizes new commercial products, technologies, and materials for their technological significance that are available for sale or license. Berxel Photonics' Polarization Structured Light 3D camera stood out among an impressive field of nominees for its transformative impact on 3D imaging technology.
The Polarization Structure Light 3D camera leverages metasurface technology to address common issues faced by 3D sensing systems, including multipath reflection and mirror-surface interference. At the heart of this breakthrough lies the use of high-contrast-grating (HCG) vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and a metastrucutred grating polarizers integrated CMOS image sensor, which exploit the polarization properties of light against reflection. The innovative technology enables accurate depth imaging in highly reflective environments, making the camera ideal for applications in fields such as humanoid and servicing robots, automation guided vehicle (AGV), smart manufacturing, and AIoT.
Connie Chang-Hasnain, the chairperson of Berxel Photonics, expressed her gratitude: “We are thrilled to receive the RD100 Award, which recognizes our team’s tireless efforts in pushing the boundaries of 3D sensing technology. Our Polarization Structure Light 3D camera represents a significant leap forward, and we are excited to see its impact across various industries.”
Berxel Photonics continues to lead the way in photonics innovation, and this award reaffirms its position as a trailblazer in the field. The company’s commitment to excellence and groundbreaking research has positioned it as a key player in the rapidly evolving world of optical technologies.
