Jowat Invests in Solar Energy
For Jowat, sustainability means responsible entrepreneurial activity aimed at coupling the company’s development and success with the sustainable interests of society and the environment for the long term. The enterprise has now taken another step in this direction, with a further investment in renewable energy.
In late September, a photovoltaic (PV) system was turned on and started producing electricity at the enterprise’s headquarters in Detmold. The new PV power station connects around 1,800 PV modules to the grid. Ralf Nitschke, member of the Board of Directors at Jowat SE: “The electricity produced by the PV system is being used on site. Thereby, we can reduced our CO2 emissions by an additional 200 tonnes.” Jowat has also been investing in renewable energy at the enterprise’s other locations. The Group’s manufacturing locations in Switzerland and Malaysia have each had their own PV systems for some time already and the sales organizations in Brazil and Poland have also been investing in this renewable energy.
Dirk-Alexander Segger, plant manager in Detmold: “The modules were ordered in November 2021 and implementation started in April 2022. PV modules are now installed on the roofs of all buildings which were deemed suitable following a structural analysis. We would like to thank all those involved, whose support has been crucial to the quick implementation.”
The Board of Directors of Jowat SE stresses that the installation of the photovoltaic systems is further step towards the successful implementation of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDG). In addition, Jowat supplies products which meet the requirements of the global markets and which facilitate the efficient use of natural resources. Increasing the sustainability of bonding is an integral objective of the Jowat principles. Resource conservation is of crucial importance in that regard and to this end Jowat focuses on the adhesive itself as well as on the bonding process. The Green adhesives series comprises Jowat adhesives which meet different sustainability aspects and which provide each processor with the opportunity to design more responsible and more environment-friendly processes.
