Journey™ 5

On September 30, 2021, the world’s first mass-produced model with the Horizon Journey™ 5 computing solution, Li Auto’s L8 Pro, was formally released. The new model is positioned as a family-friendly luxury six-seat SUV and will come standard with Li Auto’s AD Pro assisted driving system, which is based on the high-performance, energy-efficient computing solution Journey™ 5, as well as the standard highway NOA navigation-aided driving feature. The release of this model marks the all-round expansion of cooperation between the two sides, officially opening the era of mass production in Journey ™ 5.

Horizon’s Journey™ 5 is a third-generation automotive-grade device for high-level autonomous driving. It is capable of satisfying the computational requirements of Li AD Pro through its integration of hardware and software. Meanwhile, the remarkable performance of Journey™ 5 will help to position the L8 Pro as the best smart EV choice in its price range. The manufacturing of high-end intelligent driving will be propelled by its creative product experience, eventually lowering the entry barrier to owning a premium smart vehicle.

The pace of iteration in the automobile sector is increasingly critical for automakers to win the smart mobility transition. Horizon and Li Auto were both founded in 2015. As a young partnership on the path of industrial transformation, the two companies have built an original collaboration paradigm for the smart automotive sector that is efficient, open, and capable of co-building. In the Li ONE project of 2021, the two partners managed to realize ADAS mass production in just eight months and achieved an industrial miracle with this ultimate speed. The two sides will further improve Li L8’s mass manufacturing and delivery efficiency based on their extensive combined knowledge.

Horizon’s Journey™ 5 computing system went from R&D to mass manufacturing in less than three years. In addition to the Li L8, Journey™ 5 has received designated mass production collaboration from BYD, SAIC, and FAW-Hongqi, with additional cooperating models to follow. As a Chinese self-developed solution for autonomous driving, Journey™ 5 has been completely implemented for mass production. It has received ISO 26262 ASIL-B product functional safety certification and AEC-Q100 vehicle regulatory reliability verification, completely satisfying the high standards and needs of mass-market pre-installation for smart driving. At the same time, based on Horizon’s mature and user-friendly development tools, Journey™ 5 can completely and efficiently address the varied mass production demands of automotive companies for rich intelligent driving scenarios with its robust software and hardware performance capabilities.

Horizon is leading the mass production process of smart driving solutions with a visionary technology concept based on an integration of software and hardware, also with its efficient and user-friendly computing solution, and a flexible and collaborative industrial ecosystem. As of now, the Journey series has seen the delivery of over 1.5 million and partnerships with more than 20 car manufacturers, with over 70 pre-installation projects underway. These massive-scale manufacturing experiences will continue to feed back into the future, improving innovation in products while improving mass production capabilities. All of this will assist industry partners in continually improving the efficiency of autonomous driving technology research and development, resulting in even better product experiences for Chinese customers.
