TOP POWER ASIC Introduces TP4065 Linear Li-lon Battery Charger with Charge Current Ranging From 3mA to 600mA
The TP4065 Linear Li-lon Battery Charger from TOP POWER ASIC is a complete linear charger for single cell lithium-ion batteries. The
world's first chip with reverse battery protection and power supply reverse
connect protection. The charge current can range from 3mA to 600mA, and it includes
trickle, constant current, and constant voltage. Its SOT23-5 package and low external
component count make the TP4065 ideally suited for portable applications.
Furthermore, the TP4065 can work with USB and wall adapters.
Thermal feedback regulates the charge current to limit the die temperature during high power operation or high ambient temperature. The charge voltage can be divided by 4.2V, and the charge current can be programmed externally with a single resistor. The TP4065 automatically terminates the charge cycle when the charge current drops to 1/10th the programmed value after the final float voltage reaches.
When the input supply (wall adapter or USB supply) is removed, the TP4065 automatically enters a low current state, dropping the battery drain current to less than 1μA. The TP4065 can be put into shutdown mode, reducing the supply current to 75μA. Other features include under voltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two status pins to indicate charge termination.
