What Should We Pay Attention to when Using Schottky Diode?
Schottky diodes are widely used. such as vehicle electronics, chargers and so on. You should make adequate preparations before using the diode. Test whether the diode performance is good or bad before putting it into production.
Attention :
1. The actual working current of the application circuit should be less than the forward rated current If of the Schottky diode, and generally not greater than 60% of the rated If.
2. The peak working voltage of the application circuit shall be less than the maximum reverse breakdown voltage VRRM of the Schottky diode, generally not more than 80% of the rated voltage VRRM.
3. The actual operating temperature rise of the Schottky diode in the application circuit should be less than the maximum junction temperature tjma of the Schottky diode.
4. In order to ensure reliability, Schottky diodes should be used with derating, especially the selection of forward-rated current.
5. For application circuits with relatively large surge voltage or surge current, suppression and absorption circuits should be added.
6. For the replacement of Schottky diodes, try to use the original model, because the Schottky forward voltage drop Vf, reverse breakdown voltage Vr, and reverse leakage current Ir of different models are different.
