Renesas Introduces An Easy Tool for Touch Development Even with Partner IDE Platforms
With the evolution of HMI (Human Machine Interface) technology, sophisticated design, and high usability are increasingly in demand to enhance the value of products. Consequently, the demand for capacitive touch is rising due to its ability to be implemented in a range of materials like wood or transparent acrylic as operation panels, depending on the design concept, and to enhance user experience more straightforward like LED user guides. However, while many might be keen on introducing the capacitive touch, the challenge in software development initiation might be daunting for some.
Renesas offers a development support tool "QE for Capacitive Touch" to address this problem. This tool allows for automatic touch detection program generation, monitoring of measurement values, and parameter adjustments through a GUI, enabling anyone to easily adjust the sensitivity.
While the existing "QE for Capacitive Touch" needs to be integrated as a plugin in the Renesas e2studio integrated development environment (IDE), the newly developed standalone version can now operate independently. This independence frees developers from being tied to a single platform.
Furthermore, for users utilizing the IAR-owned IDE for Renesas RX, known as EWRX (Embedded Workbench for Renesas RX), RENESAS has prepared an application note titled "Using QE for Capacitive Touch for IAR EWRX" This note outlines the procedure for auto-adjusting and monitoring touch sensors using the standalone version of QE for Capacitive Touch, Smart Configurator, and IAR EWRX.
For those who have previously given up on developing capacitive touch solutions due to unfamiliarity with e2studio, the standalone version of QE for Capacitive Touch and its application guide makes it simple to dive into touch development. RENESAS highly recommends leveraging this solution.
