●Description
•The VI Chip®bi-directional current multiplier is a Sine AmplitudeConverter™ (SAC™) operating from a 26 to 55 Vdc primarysource or a 6.5 to 13.8 Vdc secondary source to power a load.The bi-directional Sine Amplitude Converter isolates andtransforms voltage at a secondary:primary ratio of 1/4 . The SACoffers a low AC impedance beyond the bandwidth of mostdownstream regulators; therefore for a step-down conversion;capacitance normally at the load can be located at the source tothe Sine Amplitude Converter to enable a reduction in size ofcapacitors. Since the K factor of the VTM48EF120T025A0R is1/4 , the capacitance value on the primary side can be reducedby a factor of 16 in an application where the source is locatedon the primary side, resulting in savings of board area, materialsand total system cost.
•The VTM48EF120T025A0R is provided in a VI Chip packagecompatible with standard pick-and-place and surface mountassembly processes. The co-molded VI Chip package providesenhanced thermal management due to a large thermalinterface area and superior thermal conductivity. The highconversion efficiency of the VTM48EF120T025A0R increasesoverall system efficiency and lowers operating costs comparedto conventional approaches.
•The VTM48EF120T025A0R enables the utilization of FactorizedPower Architecture™ which provides efficiency and sizebenefits by lowering conversion and distribution losses andpromoting high density point of load conversion.
