The IXI Technology Printer Interface Unit™ (PIU) is designed to replace militarized PT-540 printers with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) printers. It connects directly to the existing power and NTDS interface cables of the PT-540, emulating its interface protocol for seamless operation with host computers. The PIU supports USB or Ethernet connections for printers, is rugged for shipboard environments, and requires no periodic maintenance. It has passed U.S. Navy environmental qualification tests and is configurable for various COTS printers. The PIU features self-test and maintenance capabilities, with a ready indicator and front panel buttons for testing.
