EL731 Series Firmware Update v1.62 Notice for Australia Customers

2024-10-24
●This notice is to inform you that an issue has been discovered in firmware versions 1.59 and 1.60 for the EL731 series AC/DC Sensitive Earth-Leakage Relay, that affects the CT2 CT Verification function. In these firmware releases, when the CT2 Input Filter is set to either the 190 Hz High Pass or 90 Hz Low Pass selection, the CT2 CT Verification function does not operate for the CT2 input on the EL731. This issue does not affect the CT1 input. This issue is fixed with firmware release version 1.62, which entered production in November 2023.
●It is important to note that this does not affect the earth-fault protection circuit in the EL731. While the current transformer remains connected the EL731 correctly measures and reacts (trips or alarms) to an earth fault measured by the CT2 (and CT1) current transformer.
●AS/NZS 2081:2011 Section 6.4 requires an earth-fault protection device to detect an open circuit in the current sensor wiring. In order to maintain the AS/NZS 2081:2011 compliance, customers who are utilizing the CT2 input on the EL731 with either the 190 Hz High Pass or 90 Hz Low Pass Input Filter are recommended to perform a firmware upgrade to version 1.62 to correct this issue.
●The firmware update is compatible with all EL731 series part numbers with hardware revisions 01A, 01B, 01C, 02A, 02B, 02C, and 03.
●In addition to the fix mentioned above, firmware release version 1.62 includes the following updates and new features:
■ Addition of low-temperature alarm and trip events for the RTD Local Temperature protection function, to complement the existing high-temperature alarm and trip events;
■ Added high-temperature alarm, high-temperature trip, low-temperature alarm, and low-temperature trip as additional options in the output-relay function menu, for use when programming the operation of the K1, K2, and K3 output relays; and
■ Added ability to change CT1 Verification trip time to be set to the earth-fault trip time, or fixed 2, 3, 4, or 5 seconds. Previously the CT1 Verification trip time was automatically set to the earth-fault trip time with no adjustments. The CT2 Verification trip time remains fixed at 3 seconds.
