TI Solutions for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs)

2024-08-29
●Wireless Sensor Nodes (WSNs) have a broad range of applications in Smart Grid infrastructure. WSNs can be distributed widely across the network to remotely monitor status and report faulty conditions. WSNs can measure any number of physical parameters such as temperature, pressure, vibration, position, motion, orientation, light in different parts of the spectrum (visible, IR).
●A good solution for WSN demands low-system power consumption and in addition, a “(near) self-powering” capability to extend the lifetime of the sensor node. TI’s solution for WSN is centered on the bq25504, ultra-low-power MSP430™ and CC25xx radio. The industry-leading ecosystem for TI MCU support makes it an easy solution for quick time to market. The bq25504 power management IC can be used to harness ambient sources of energy such as solar, vibration and temperature to power the system, and recharge the battery or super-capacitors. The bq25504 has a built-in programmable MPPT scheme to improve conversion efficiency, can charge various types of energy storage elements and protects them from fault conditions such as overvoltage. Along with low quiescent current, TI solution offers an industry-leading solution for WSNs.
●TI’s bq25504 power management IC with MPPT, 16-bit MSP430 microcontroller and CC25xx radio enable customers to design a complete solution for Smart Grid Wireless Sensor Nodes.
