●The Orion2 series Application Controller Board is a fully Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) 2.0 compliant blade design based on the advanced Intel® Picket Post hardware platform. It follows the SBB 2.0 specifications on providing multiple high-speed board-to-board communication paths allowing users to design a high-availability unified storage system.
●Designed to support a single Intel® C3500 series Nehalem-Core Xeon processor and an onboard LSISAS2x36 6G SAS Expander, Orion2 is capable of supporting up to 24 6G SAS/SATA disks in single SBB enclosure. The add-on LSISAS2008 6G SAS IOC mezzanine module allows users to manage the onboard SAS expander and up to 256 total 6G SAS/SATA end-devices internally plus external expansions. An optional PCIe Gen2 x8 mezzanine module slot is available for different Host Connectivity options. Also provided is an external PCIe Gen2 x8 port, which can be used as high-speed switching fabric or external I/O expansion port. The PCIe Gen2 x8 Bus with NTB that is routed to the system mid-plane, if not used as inter-board-communication, can also be used as I/O expansion in 3U and 4U SBB enclosures equipped with the Auxiliary Canister Slots.
●Orion2 SBB 2.0 Application Controller Board is a modular and pluggable design suitable for enterprise-class unified storage appliance application, and can be used in SBB 2.0 compliant storage enclosures from AIC for 3U16 bays.
