■The penetration rate of WiFi is ever rising and is an alternate data path to offload the main mobile network.Operators deploys WiFi access points in densely populated area to enhance the mobile data service quality.At homes and offices,WiFi access points are also essential to deliver high throughput data service at low cost.Through mapping the MAC address of the wifi access point to the physical location of the AP,locational service of considerably good accuracy can be provided.WiFi enabled device sniffs for the beacon frame from APs and decode the MAC address and RSSI.By finding relevant locational information of MAC address from the database,the approximate location is available.
■BSM8001-5-W is the lowest current consuming tracker platform solution in the market which integrates WiFi and Sigfox.Sigfox delivers the MAC address of the AP in the vicinity to the cloud server where the MAC address is fed into the locational database.In return,the location of the device is found.There are existing database service provided by Sigfox or 3rdparty company.For business owner,this MAC address and location mapping database is usually available at the IT department.
■Cara-W is a self-contained PCBA with sensors and antennas which also carries a preloaded firmware.This enables immediate POC and it is also a platform which user can develop their own firmware at minimum hardware risk.
