BLF188XR 850-1000W CW 88-108MHz Application Measurement Report (AR1622288)
■This document contains measurement results of an Ampleon 1.2kW FM band device, BLF188XR, optimized for high efficiency at 850W-1000W of CW output power. This amplifier uses a planar impedance transformer on the input and output sections to replace the more traditional coaxial cable typically used in transmission line transformers. The output planar balun utilizes a copper heat sink with splayed pins for maximum cooling. The heat sink was modified to fit on the planar balun and is designed for air speed environments of 0 to 400 LFM, little to no air movement.
■The application circuit has been designed to show the capability of the BLF188XR device. Long term operation at 1000W CW has not been tested, there may be some components operating near maximum temperatures that may need to be optimized for long term reliable CW operation.
