Can eSearch/VxComm Utility Search for the devices in different subnet

2022-03-14
No, search function of the eSearch/VxComm Utility is through UDP broadcast packets. However, the routers usually don’t allow UDP broadcast packets into different subnet. Because the broadcast packets don’t have clear destination, the router will block it in the Local side. Therefore, the purpose of subnetting is to limit the unrelated and unnecessary traffic in the local subnet. It can reduce unnecessary traffic in all networks. Thus, the search function of eSearch/VxComm Utility is only available in the Local subnet.
If you need to use the search function of the eSearch/VxComm Utility in different subnet, you must contact your System Administrator to confirm that the router can allow the UDP broadcast packets.
