●The FP-3000 is an intelligent network interface and controller module thatmanages a bank of up to nine FieldPoint I/O modules and terminal bases.The FP-3000 network module and the terminal bases snap together to forma high-speed data bus for communications between the FP-3000 networkmodule and any I/O modules in the bank. The FP-3000 includes an H1Fieldbus interface for direct connection to an H1 FOUNDATIONFieldbus link(also known as a segment). Refer to theFOUNDATIONFieldbus ●Overviewdocument for more information on FOUNDATIONFieldbus. Under the bestcircumstances, you can connect at most 32 FP-3000 network modules to asingle FOUNDATIONFieldbus link (without repeaters). The actual number ofFP-3000 network modules that can be connected depends on your networksetup and your applications.The FP-3000 network module allows you to bring conventional analog anddiscrete I/O devices onto a FOUNDATIONFieldbus network. For example,the FP-3000 makes a 4–20 mA pressure transmitter connected to aFieldPoint 8-channel analog input module behave like a Fieldbus pressuretransmitter.
