General Measurement Procedure
Note: For instrument-specific procedures, f ollow the instructions
supplied with the test instrument.
1. Determine the required test frequency or frequency range
from the component data sheet or specification. Verify that
the required test frequency is within the instrument frequency
range.
2. Set the instrument for the required frequency range ,
measurement parameters (e.g. L, Q, Z, θ), number of
measurement (frequency) points, and a veraging parameters .
3. Calibrate the instrument using accurate reference standards.
4. Align the connector on the RDL-A to the connector on the
test instrument.
(Continued on other side)
CAUTION: Do not ov er-tighten the connector . Ov er-tightening
can damage the center conductor .
5. F asten the 7mm connector of the test instrument onto the
RDL-A connector until snug (appro x. 3 turns).
6. Enter the electrical length to compensate f or fixture phase
dela y.
7. Make sure there is no component or shorting bar in the
fixture, and perf orm OPEN fixture compensation.
8. Place the supplied shorting bar onto the fixture. Center and
press the shorting bar into the contacts until completely
seated.
9. P erf orm SHORT fixture compensation. Remo ve the shorting
bar from the fixture.
10. Place the test component into the fixture.
11. Read the display ed value on the instrument.
