Eaton Industrial Gateway Card will fully replace the Eaton Network and Modbus Card Jun. 30, 2021
Jun. 30 2021
At the end of June 2021, the Eaton Network and Modbus Card (MODBUS-MS) card will be entering the end of
service phase of its lifecycle. Eaton will no longer provide firmware updates for this product. Eaton recommends that
all current installations of the MODBUS-MS card be replaced by the Eaton Gigabit Industrial Gateway Card (P/N:
INDGW-M2). All future demand for the MODBUS-MS card should be fulfilled with the Eaton Gigabit Industrial
Gateway Card (P/N: INDGW-M2).
The Gigabit Industrial Gateway Card should be a direct replacement for the MODBUS-MS card as it maintains the
legacy Modbus mapping, SNMP MIB, and core functions of the legacy MODBUS-MS. However, customers
standardized on the MODBUS-MS are encouraged to reach out for assistance with the transition to their local Eaton
partner or sales representative, who can provide additional documentation, demos and sales support as necessary.
The Gigabit Industrial Gateway Card, which was released in 2018, brings a host of improvements listed below.
Cybersecurity enhancements for UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 certifications, including stronger encryption,
configurable password policy and usage of CA and PKI signed certificates
Gigabit speed: compatible with better performing, cost effective and widely deployed gigabit network switches
Real-time clock with battery backup and linkage to NTP (Network Time Protocol) server
Increased memory for improved operation and larger data storage
Modern user experience with latest web technology
Secure SMTP for email alerts
