High power density is the mainstream trend in modern switching power supplies for meeting
energy saving and environment protection. To achieve this target, the power density of
magnetic components should be increased. Planar transformer has compact planar structure
and perfect magnetic coupling between windings and core, which makes parasitic
parameters reduced and the working performance improved, thus, the power efficiency of
whole system level is increased. The planar transformer is now widely used in the high
frequency switch power supplies.
