Subject: Raw Material Change in RO4730G3™ Laminates
Dear Valued Customer,
Rogers Corporation is committed to delivering leading advanced circuit material solutions
engineered to meet stringent performance requirements that are a consistent and reliable
choice for applications in the 5G wireless communication, automotive radar sensors, aerospace,
satellite markets and more. Rogers has successfully sourced and qualified a replacement
hollow sphere supplier to improve PTH appearance through a smaller sphere size distribution
profile. In addition, 20 mil and thicker laminate constructions will be moving from a 5 mil 1080
style glass fabric building block to 10 mil 1674 glass fabric. Most importantly, both of these
changes strengthens the supply chain and enables long term competitiveness at our customers
by way of shorter lead times, logistics, reliable supply, and immunity from current and any future
trade war actions.
A detailed list of changes can be seen in the table below:
Affected Products:
Product Description
Change
RO4730G3 Laminates 0.0057” and 0.0107”
Hollowsphere Supplier
RO4730G3 LoPro® Laminates 0.0207” through 0.0607”
Hollowsphere Supplier and Glass Construction
RO4730G3 ED Laminates 0.0200” through 0.0600
Hollowsphere Supplier and Glass Construction
Production batches have been successfully made with the replacement raw materials and all
properties are within specification. Substantial testing on the raw material and finished products
have shown that the replacement raw material has no significant effect on the final properties of
the products listed above as measured by Rogers Corporation, and has no implications to UL
filings. With the raw material changes, we have determined that the performance is equivalent
and in line with the high quality products customers are used to receiving. Please refer to the
attached qualification report for additional details.
Based on current demand, we have sufficient inventory of the original raw materials to last until
November 1
st
, 2020. The original product, therefore, will be available for purchase as long as
inventory remains for this raw material OR until November 1
st
, 2020, whichever comes first.
Rogers Corporation can provide samples of the raw material replaced version for your
evaluation. To discuss this change and/or to order a sample of the new version of the material,
please contact your local sales representative. We appreciate your continued business.
