REACH Statement
March 10
th
2020
REACH is a European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It
deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances.
The law entered into force on 1 June 2007.
All manufacturers and importers of chemicals must identify and manage risks linked to the
substances they manufacture and market. For substances produced or imported in quantities
of 1 tonne or more per year per company, manufacturers and importers need to demonstrate
that they have appropriately identified and managed the risks by means of a registration
dossier, which must be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
Melexis has evaluated our manufactured products and determined that we do not import nor
produce articles containing substances that are released under normal conditions of use.
Therefore we are not obliged to register the substances of our articles. As we are not potential
registrants, we will not pre-register either.
As a consequence we take this opportunity to inform you that Melexis will not pre-register,
nor register our substances in articles, as mentioned in art. 28 and art. 7 §1 of the REACH
directive.
Melexis recognizes that companies not compliant with REACH will be unable to access markets
within the EU. Therefore, we are notifying our suppliers of chemicals and other substances
that are affected by this REACH directive of their (pre-) registration obligation and their
obligation to take the necessary actions to be compliant.

The candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) that are subject to authorization
was released by ECHA. Additional substances are regularly added to this list and published by
the ECHA (Candidate List ofto the newest revision of RoHS (European Union directive 2011/65/EU
including the amendment with Directive 2015/863/EU) SVHC).
Melexis reviewed the bill of materials of its articles to identify those parts
containing SVHC.
After each update of the candidate list of SVHC Melexis is reviewing the bill of
materials of its articles again to identify those parts containing SVHC.
Melexis will inform our customer in cases where it uses substances containing
above 0.1% of SVHC in weight by weight.
