Overview of the Directive
An amendment of the Annex II of Directive 2011/65/EU, known as RoHS 2.0, has been approved under
Directive (EU) 2015/863.
The new directive primarily added four phthalates in the restricted substances. See Substances
Restrictions below for more information.
Product Category and Exemptions
Nordic recognizes that it is covered by RoHS 2.0 directive. Nordic continues its efforts to ensure that it is
compliant to the Directive. However, some provisions of the directive does not apply to Nordic.
CE Marking
RoHS 2.0 Directive requires suppliers of Finished EEE to affix the CE markings on their products. Nordic
Semiconductor is a supplier of integrated circuits. Therefore, CE marking requirement does not apply for
our products.
Substances Restrictions
In addition to the six hazardous substances – Pb (0.1%), Hg (0.1%), Cd (0.01%), Cr VI (0.1%), PBB
(0.1%), and PBDE (0.1%), the amendment of RoHS 2.0 added the following 4 substances with threshold
limit of 0.1%:
Bis (2-ethyhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP)
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)
Nordic periodically sends samples of devices for laboratory testing to verify its compliance to RoHS
substances restrictions. A copy of the Hazardous Substance Reports (HSR) for each product is available
in Nordic Website and may be viewed by customers.
Homogeneous Material
Nordic Semiconductor gathers Hazardous Substance Reports and Material Safety Datasheets for each
homogeneous material from Suppliers. These reports are available upon request.
Conclusion
Nordic Semiconductor, a supplier of Integrated Circuits warrants that all our IC products are RoHS 2.0
compliant.
