The lcDSL V3 interface ASIC
used in the EES/EEM37 enco-
ders contains an error when
specifying position widths of less
than 24 bits. When doing so, an
“acceleration overow” error will
be raised any time the position
crosses the 0 boundary. Also,
an invalid position character will
be transmitted on the Horizontal
Channel. The absolute position
is not affected by this error. No
safety function is affected by
this error. All EES37 (single-turn)
encoders have position widths of
less than 24 bits and are therefo-
re affected. All EEM37 (multi-
turn) encoders have position
widths of more than 24 bits and
are not affected.

When re-connecting the DSL
link to the EES/EEM 37 encoder
while the encoder shaft is in
motion, the DSL Master IP-Core
will indicate an “Acceleration
Overow Error”. Under these con-
ditions the error has no meaning.
