DESCRIPTION
The Firecomms DC50MBd RedLink transmitter
consists of a highly reliable Resonant Cavity Light
EmittingDiode(RCLED)withintegrateddriverICas
avisibleopticaltransmitter.Thedeviceishousedin
aminiaturepackagetointerfacetoplugterminated
lengthsofPlasticOpticFiber(POF)or200μmPlastic
Clad
Silica(PCS)fiber.Itiscapableofdelivering50
MBd digital signals over fiber and operate in the
temperaturerangeof‐40⁰Cto+85⁰C.Thedevice
can operate from 5V or3.3V DC power rails and
cantolerate±10%supplyvariation.
The transmitter contains
a red wavelength RCLED
withfullyintegratedprecisiondriverIC,designedto
provideacommu nicationlinkoverPOF.TheRCLED
inisahighlyreliablevisibleincoherentlightsource
requiring low operating current. The use of
intrinsicallyeyesafe,visiblelightsimplifieslinkset
upandtesting.Itisavailable
ininvertingandnon
invertingoptions.
