RoHS 2 & RoHS 3 Amendment Dir 2015 / 863
Dear Valued Customers, January 18, 2019
Semtech Corporation recognizes and acknowledges that the European Union EU commission amended Annex
II to EU RoHS 2 directive 2011/65/EU adding a group of 4 phthalates onto the list of restricted substances
commonly referred to as directive 2015/863. This amendment applies to the addition of the following phthalates;
RoHS2 Restricted Substance Allowable Limit
Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) <1000 ppm (0.1 weight %)
Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) <1000 ppm (0.1 weight %)
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) <1000 ppm (0.1 weight %)
Diisobutyl phthalate(DIBP) <1000 ppm (0.1 weight %)
Semtech Corporation hereby declares products listed below to be compliant with the requirements for restricted
substances and their respective allowable limits listed in RoHS Directive 2015/863 as an amendment to
2011/65/EU.
Semtech part numbers: SD15C.TCT
Further note, as a result of the 2015/863 Bis (2- ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP),
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) were considered as priority substances in
previous version of RoHS 2, while a new phthalate Diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP) is added and HBCDD is deleted
as of June 2015.
DIBP was added as it may be a substitute for DEHP, DBP and BBP, and HBCDD was deleted because the
European Commission deemed that it is under evaluation within the Stockholm Convention on Persistent
Organic Pollutants but beyond the regulatory scope of the RoHS Directive.
RoHS 3. The four phthalates under this Commission Delegated Directive, also to be known as “RoHS3”, are
likely to be found in myriad soft rubber parts and PVC.
As a result of directive 2015/863 there are ten 10 hazardous substances that are restricted in Electrical
Electronic Equipment EEE as part of RoHS 2 & RoHS 3.
