Dear Valued Exar Customer:
The purpose of this letter is to formally announce Exar’s plan to obsolete products which have had little to
zero demand over the last 24 months.
Attached you will find two lists:
List 1 – includes those devices that we have been supplying in either traditional (tin/lead) or lead-free lead
finishes. Exar will continue to supply these products in only the lead-free “-L” version.
List 2 – includes those products that are being discontinued due to low volume or zero demand.
We ask that you review these devices against your forecasted demand to determine what type of last time
buy you need to secure for these devices.
Lifetime buys for those devices in List 1 need to be entered by April 30, 2007 with delivery to be taken
not later than June 30, 2007. Life-time buys will be limited to current stock on hand. If you require
assembly starts beyond stock on hand, Exar will entertain such purchase orders, but only on a case-by-
case, minimum quantity, and “non-cancelable” basis.
Lifetime buys for those devices in List 2 need to be entered by May 31, 2007 and to be scheduled for
delivery not later than November 30, 2007. If wafer starts are required to fulfill your LTB request,
minimum non-cancelable order quantities may apply.
Any orders placed after the notification periods listed above, will only be accepted with minimum order
quantities on a non-cancellable, non-re-schedulable basis and must be filled from current stock. If order
requests cannot be fulfilled from current stock, requests received after the notification periods listed above
may not be accepted.
Exar encourages you to review your past purchase of these products and any up-coming needs you might
have for these products in the foreseeable future. Please contact your Exar Sales office or Exar Customer
Service for any more details.
In order to help achieve a smooth transition, Exar suggests that you work with your local Exar Sales office
or Exar Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to determine the best Exar alternatives to the parts being
discontinued. We encourage you to consider these parts as replacements as you go through your selection
process.
