hampion Aerospace’s 28VUPS-5 is an uninterruptible power supply

that features a new, lightweight aluminum enclosure. This UPS is

capable of selective load support on the designated load terminal and

features a blocking diode to protect sensitive equipment from

electrical back feed.

The UPS provides bridge power to select mission

equipment during AC bus transfers, low voltage sags, and

other AC/DC interruptions. This allows critical utilization

equipment to maintain full operational capability and

“ride through” these conditions without challenging

upstream breakers and fuses. Champion’s UPS device is

compatible with all power converters and preserves the

life of utilization equipment and keeping flight and

mission critical instruments accurate and online.

Designed to meet MIL-STD-704 (A-F) for Aircraft

Electrical Power, the 28VUPS-5 is the latest development

in a complete line of uninterruptible power supplies

produced by Champion Aerospace, LLC.

The 28VUPS-5 nominally provides up to 100A for 500 ms and automatically disconnects from the power system within 2 seconds of a

power system shutdown.

All circuitry in the 28VUPS-5 is based on supercapacitor and solid state technology. The UPS source terminal should be connected to

a 28V circuit breaker, and the load terminal directly to the critical load served.

The internal low output voltage sensor disconnects at 18 VDC to prevent undervoltage power to the DC loads. The timeout feature

disconnects the output line after a loss of aircraft power for the purpose of complying with an intentional shutdown. These settings

are customizable upon request. The NVIS compatible LED indicates the load terminal is energized.

All Champion UPS devices are fully automated with no manual switches or complex control inputs. The internal controls and timers

are provided by discrete components with no software—meaning no DO-178 requirements to address.
