ITW RELEASE AGENT SPRAYABLE SILICON RELEASE AGENT FOR EPOXY
CHOCKS
REVISED: 10/2023
TECHNICAL DATA SHEET #814
VERSION: D
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ITW RELEASE AGENT is specially formulated to prevent
adhesion between most Chockfast products and surfaces of
metal, glass, rubber, and many plastics. It is used where the
minimum possible clearance between resin and mating
surface is required, improving alignment preservation
efficiency.
USE & BENEFITS
ITW RELEASE AGENT does not contain silicone oils. When
properly used, the release agent coating is only a few
molecules thick and there is minimal, usually zero, transfer
to the cast resin.
In addition, the ITW RELEASE AGENT contains no
chlorinated solvents such as 1,1,1 trichloroethane or
methylene chloride.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Effectiveness is dependent upon cleanliness of the surface
of the installation area. For the best results, ensure removal
of all grease, oil, paint, and foreign matter. Surface should
be cleaned to rough, bright metal finish by blasting, grinding,
or with emery cloth. Rinse surface with IXT-59 or equivalent
solvent to ensure a clean area.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Please refer to the appropriate safety data sheet (SDS) prior
to using this product.
Shake well. The aerosol spray can should be held upright at
a distance of approximately 9" to 12" (23 to 30-cm) from the
surface and a maximum of 1 second of spray on any given
area will be ample. The surface should not appear wet even
when freshly sprayed. One pass usually provides sufficient
coating.
Do not substitute other release agents for ITW RELEASE
AGENT without testing their effect on adhesion, clearance,
and surface bubbling.
Note: ITW RELEASE AGENT should be applied within a
maximum of 1 hour of starting to pour Chockfast. If more
time than this has passed since application, then it is
recommended to reapply prior to pouring Chockfast.
CAUTION: Keep container away from and do not use near
sparks, open flame, heated surfaces, or other ignition
sources.
To remove ITW RELEASE AGENT from applied surfaces,
perform a solvent wash with IXT-59 or equivalent solvent to
ensure a clean area. Water-based degreasers or cleaning
agents are not recommended, as the ITW RELEASE
AGENT is not water soluble.
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
All product components should be stored in a dry, shaded
area in original unopened containers and within a
temperature range of 65°- 95°F (16° - 35°C). For additional
information, please refer to Technical Guide 1024.
