1 GMC-I Messtechnik GmbH
Applications
In order to be able to detect faults in electri-
cal systems which are caused by defective
insulation, insulation resistance must be
measured between each active conductor
and the protective earth conductor. The
AutoISO-5000 test adapter makes it possi-
ble to run an automated test sequence for
installation measurements at multi-core
cables (3, 4 or 5) with the METRISO PRIME
10 test instrument. Use for other purposes is
impermissible.
Safety Precautions
The test adapter has been manufactured
and tested in accordance with the following
safety regulations: IEC/EN 61010-1/
VDE 0411-1.
Safety of the operator, as well as that of the
test adapter, is only assured when it’s used
for its intended purpose.
Read the operating instructions carefully and
completely before placing your test adapter into
service. Follow all instructions contained therein.
Make sure that the operating instructions are
available to all users of the device. Read the oper-
ating instructions for the METRISO PRIME 10 test
instrument too.
Tests may only be performed by a qualified elec-
trician or under the supervision and direction of a
qualified electrician. Wear a suitable and appro-
priate personal protective equipment (PPE) when-
ever working with the device.
Opening the Device / Repairs
The device may only be opened by authorized,
trained personnel in order to ensure flawless
operation and to assure that the guarantee
isn’t rendered null and void.
Even original replacement parts may only be
installed by authorized, trained personnel.
If it can be ascertained that the device has
been opened by unauthorized personnel, no
guarantee claims can be honored by the
manufacturer with regard to personal safety,
measuring accuracy, compliance with appli-
cable safety measures or any consequential
damages. If a guarantee seal is included and
it has been damaged or removed, all guar-
antee claims are rendered null and void.
Observe the following safety precautions:
Make sure that the connector cables are
not damaged, e.g. damaged insulation,
interruption etc.
Attention!
!
Insulation resistance can only be
measured at voltage-free objects.
Do not touch the tips of the test probes.
Do not use the test adapter in electrical
systems or for devices in potentially
explosive atmospheres, or in environ-
ments where the risk of fire exists.
The test adapter may not be used:
If external damage is apparent, for exam-
ple if parts which conduct dangerous
touch voltage are freely accessible
With damaged connector and/or mea-
surement cables, e.g. interrupted insula-
tion or kinked cable
If it no longer functions flawlessly
If it has been stored under unfavorable
conditions for a lengthy period of time
(e.g. extremely high atmospheric humid-
ity) – after moving the adapter from a
cold to a warm environment with high

atmospheric humidity, do not start mea-
surement until the device has warmed
up to the new ambient temperature
(approx. 30 minutes).
In such cases, the test adapter must be
removed from operation and secured
against unintentional use.
