Azoteq Product Change Notice:
IQS550, IQS572, IQS525
Issued Date: 1 March 2016
Effective Date: 1 June 2016
PCN Number: ACN_5XX_01.
1 Azoteq change notification policy
Azoteq appreciates that our customers often have long product life cycles. As Azoteq
values our customers’ needs, we try to keep our products in production for as long as
possible. There are, however, legal, environmental or performance requirements that will
sometimes necessitate the need for a running change to a part. We weigh this very
carefully against the inconvenience caused to customers already in production.
This specific change, however, does not affect the product application in any way. It
is just an ordering and labelling adjustment. The ordering part number and the change
in the product labelling must simply be brought to the customers’ attention.
2 Detailed description of changes
Azoteq have changed the part numbers of the IQS5xx devices from ‘A000’ to ‘BL’. This is
to distance the touch controller purchased from any specific product firmware release, such
as the IQS5xx-A000 or IQS5xx-B000. The ‘BL’ indicates that the device is pre-programmed
with an I
2
C bootloader (BL). The application firmware is then programmed by the end
customer during product testing and manufacturing, making the part number and controller
more generic for any future application firmware.
On the IQS5xx-B000 (the latest Azoteq trackpad controller platform), the customer already
creates a custom HEX file, including the required setup and tuning parameters for that
specific hardware. This then needs to be programmed onto the device, negating any
application firmware that is already pre-programmed on the controller. For more details see
http://www.azoteq.com/images/stories/pdf/iqs5xx-b000_trackpad_datasheet.pdf.
Part number update
Here is a table showing the part number change for all three controllers in the IQS5xx
family.

Revision 1.0
June 2016
There are no software changes.
The ‘BL’ product ships with the bootloader, and also with the older ‘A000’ trackpad
firmware, exactly as the ‘A000’ product currently does. So the ‘BL’ is identical to the ‘A000’
in all aspects. Customers using other firmware (such as the preferred ‘B000’ platform) will
simply bootload program this onto the flash device.
2.3 Internal hardware changes
There are no hardware changes.
2.4 External hardware (mechanical) changes
2.4.1 Chip marking
There is no change to chip marking
2.4.2 Labelling
The label on the reel and also on the vacuum sealed bag, have changed as shown in the
picture below:
Figure 2.2 New IQS550 label
This is an example of the IQS550 label, with the IQS572 and IQS525 being similar with
their relevant IQS5xxBLQNR part numbers updated.
3 Impact on customer products
There will be no impact on customer products, since this is just re-branding of the exact
same device currently being used.
4 Recommended action
4.1 Incoming inspection
The customer will need to be aware of the part number change, and any incoming
inspection on the parts will need to be updated with the new label details that would be
observed on both the reel and the vacuum seal packaging.
4.2 Ordering / PO details
Future purchasing details must be updated to reflect the new part number for the required
IQS5xx device, using the codes from Table 2.1.
