1. Obtain a USB Memory Stick or HIOKI-issued PC Card. This will be used to save the version
upgrade file as well as load the file onto the MR8880-20.
2. Download the Version Upgrade file from the HIOKI website onto the USB Memory Stick or PC
Card.
3. Decompress the downloaded file (ZIP format) onto your PC’s hard disk.
4. Copy the contents of the folder into the USB Memory Stick or PC Card.
5. Save settings to USB Memory Stick or CF card. All settings will be cleared after version
upgrade.

The following procedures apply to the use of a HIOKI PC Card to conduct a version upgrade.
1. Insert the PC Card saved with the version upgrade file into the MR8880-20’s PC Card
slot.(Remove the PC Card adapter if it is attached ? insert only the media.)
2. Press the FILE key on the MR8880-20 display the FILE screen.
3. Use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT keys to navigate the cursor to the version upgrade file, and
press the ENTER button.
4. Move the cursor to Load and press ENTER.
5. Carefully read and understand the messages appearing on the display, and select YES to begin
the upgrade.The version upgrade process will begin automatically, with the screen showing the
upgrade status. Version upgrade will take approximately 1 minutes.
Upon completion of the version upgrade, the MR8880-20 will restart automatically.

6. Check that the version number appearing on the top right corner of the SYSTEM tab reflects
the newest number.
7. In the SYSTEM tab under Self-Test, move the cursor to ROM/RAM and press ENTER to
conduct a ROM/RAM test. Check that OK appears after the test.
