Ref: KOBE Steel Ltd. Japan, Improper Conduct Scandal

Dear Valued IXYS Distributor/Customer,

This letter is In reference to the recent revelation that KOBE Steel Ltd, Japan admitted to improper

conduct (falsifying material certifications) for various products such as copper, aluminum and other

specialty metals/materials. This incident came to light at KOBE Steel Ltd., following their self-inspection

and emergency quality audits for material products shipped from their facilities over the past year

(September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017).

We investigated the possible use of KOBE material with our assembly subcontractors. Because of the

difficulty of determining the exact sources of materials, IXYS independently tested our material metal

supply that was in question and found that all material used in production met the requirements for

IXYS production.
